10 Man Bournemouth Forces Manchester United To 1-1 Draw At Old Trafford

Manchester United were forced to a 1-1 draw by visiting Bournemouth after fruitless efforts were made at Old Trafford to get the maximum three points needed to keep their hopes of finishing top four alive.

United wasted lots of chances in the first half, and paid dearly for it in the second half as their efforts to get a second goal was frustrated by the visiting team despite playing one man down in the second half.

Rojo opened scoring for Jose Mourinho men in the 23rd minutes, but his goal was made irrelevant in the 40th minutes, when king converted a penalty into a goal thereby giving the visiting side a draw before half time.

However, Surman was issued a red card after a second yellow in the 45th minutes reducing the visitors to 10 man and giving United an opportunity to win ahead of the second half.

Rooney, Pogba, Zlatan all had their chances to give United the winning goal, but all effort was in vain.

In fact, United got a penalty in the second half after Pogba’s goal attempt was fouled in the 18-yard-box by Adam Smith, but Zlatan Ibrahimhovic’s spot kick was stopped by goal keeper Artur  Boruc.

Zlatan’s fate would further be determined when he meets with the FA after he escaped giving an elbow that was not noticed by the officials.

The draw keeps Bournemouth at 14th position on the premier league table, while Manchester United are 6th on the table.
