The Chipolopolo of Zambia have moved to the second position of Group B with four points after beating the Desert Warriors of Algeria 3-1 at the National Stadium in Lusaka, Zambia.
Mwila early goal in the first six minutes of play put the host in the drivers seat, before he scored a second goal in the 32 minutes to give the home team a 2 goal lead before half-time.
The second-half started with rays of hope for the visiting side, when Brahimi scored in the 53rd minutes to give them some hope.
Three minutes after his goal came, Zambia’s Sakala got a second yellow card which resulted into a red card, that looked like an opportunity for the Desert warriors to capitalize and get an equalizer, but it was practically possible as Zambia maintained their lead.
More so , Mwepu’s 88th minute strike for Zambia made things worse for the Algerians as he scored the third goal for the host despite his side being 0ne man down.
Zambia’s only hope of picking the sole ticket in the group will be that they win their remaining three matches and also hope that the Super Eagles of Nigeria fail to win any of their remaining matches.
