Alex Iwobi’s strike was the decisive goal that sealed the Russia 2018 World Cup ticket for Super Eagles, after the second-half substitute converted an impressive pass from Shehu Abdullahi in the 73′ minutes to give Gernot Rohr’s men a win.
The win means Nigeria are the first African Country to qualify for the Russia 2018 World Cup, a feat which they last achieved in France 1998.
The visitors controlled the affairs of the game in the first-half but failed to use their chances, before Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr introduced the Arsenal forward in the second-half in place of Simon Moses.
The Arsenal forward also played a significant role in the first-leg win in Zambia, where him and Kelechi Iheanacho scored to give Nigeria 2-1 victory against the Chipolopolo.
The victory means Nigeria now have 13 points and move six points adrift Zambia, with one insignificant match left against Algeria away from home.
Nigeria now join other countries like Brazil, Spain, Mexico, England, Germany, Iran, South Korea etc who have already booked a place at Russia.
