Former Manchester City player Joey Barton has branded Chelsea boss Antonio Conte a “dead man walking” according to reports from Mirror Sport.
The Chelsea manager has struggled to replicate last season’s form with his team, where the west London side cruised to the Premier League title in his first season, but it seems things are not being rosy.
The Blues are fourth in the table and 19 points adrift of league leaders Manchester City – with Tottenham just a point behind them and ready to pounce on the final Champions League places.
Pressure has since heaped up on the Italian manager over the past couple of weeks following a run of just two wins in nine matches.
Conte was frustrated by Chelsea’s lack of presence in the summer transfer window and has continued to complain about what he sees as a lack of intention.
Conte has asked for a public vote of confidence from Roman Abramovich: “I’d like to have a statement of support against this speculation. The challenge is that, in the past, this never happened.
“So it’s a big challenge to change the approach now. But, for sure, I’d be glad. You only have one person to speak (to make this happen).” Mirror Sport quoted the former Burnley player
And former Burnley and Newcastle midfielder Barton thinks the times is quickly coming when Abramovich finally gives Conte the chop.
