Under-pressure Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has given Luis Enrique endorsement to succeed him as at Stamford Bridger even though the Spaniard seems to be favourite according to reports.
The former Barcelona boss Enrique who is currently on sabbatical is heavily linked with the Chelsea job this summer but may get the call before the end of the season unless results improve Mirror Sport suggests.
Conte who leads Chelsea against West Brom on Monday night understands that he is currently playing under pressure, since Chelsea are have dropped to the fifth position on the table and are desperately in need of a win to hold on to the fourth position.
Mirror Sport reports that: “Chelsea have denied making any contact with the Spaniard, but Conte is well aware of his name being in the frame but says there are no hard feelings between managers at the top level.
Conte who spoke about the former Barcelona boss was quoted by the source to say: “Yes, I have spoken with him. I know him. We played against each other, and he’s a really good person. When I was the coach of Juventus, he was Roma’s coach.
“I have great admiration for Luis Enrique and, sometimes, he is a fantastic coach. He reached his targets with Barcelona, and also with Roma, you could see a well organised team. I can speak about him very well, as a person and a coach.
A club can take different decisions. It’s the same for me. But, I repeat, I’m not jealous or envious of other managers. Everyone knows his job, his work. I have, usually, a great respect” the source concluded.
