Arsenal Fans In Nigeria May Join Leicester City Soon

Arsenal finished second in the English premier league this season after defeating Aston Villa 4-0 in their final match to catapult themselves to the second position. A position which they last tasted in 2005.

Recent development in Nigeria shows that Arsenal may lose more fans to Leicester City in Nigeria except something serious is done. Prior to the knock out stage of the champions league, Nigeria-Arsenal fans had serious prayer session in Kaduna, calling for the downfall of Barcelona.

Kanu converted large number of Nigerians to Arsenal

But rather than the request of their prayers to go in their direction, it went in the direction of the Catalans, who emerged victorious. Barcelona did not only qualify ahead of the gunners, but they set a record of beating Gunners home and away for the first time in history.

Recent investigations conducted by Sport Intelligence in Lagos, confirms that the emergence of Leicester City as champions of England have also led to identification of Nigerian fans with the current champions.

Interestingly, among those who recently patronized Leicester City Jersey in Lagos, are fans of Arsenal who feel that identifying with a current champion today, would lead them to their own club’s success.

This belief of their may be right, but what happens by next season if Arsenal fails to carry the Epl title or make serious impact in Europe.

It will be recalled that former Super Eagles striker, Kanu Nwankwo, dragged a large number of Nigerian football fans to Arsenal, the emergence of another Nigerian player in Leicester City, could facilitate the decisions of these fans.
