Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has come out to tell Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho that he should stop complaining after spending nearly £300m and still insist it is not enough to compete with City.
Manchester United boss have spent £291.3m since arrival in 2016 while Manchester City boss have spent £365.85m within same period, but United boss recently argued he needed to spend more to compete with City.
According to report from Mirror Sport, the French man who smiled when told about Mourinho’s comment said that he has been an underdog in financial terms and even more so now.
He further added a message for Jose Mourinho saying he (Wenger) has spent 21 years not being able to spend as much as his title rivals.
The Gunners boss Wenger said: “I have been in that position for 21 years so I can’t start to complain now. There have always been three or four teams richer than I am. I’ve learned to cope with that.
“We deal with our own situation as well as we can. Manchester City, Chelsea and Man United are all richer than us. Have to find ways to be successful.” Wenger was quoted by the source.
