Nigeria, Lagos- Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna recorded a resounding 4-0 victory against Amato Antonino of Italy with a scoreline that produced 11-7, 14-12, 11-6 and 11-5.
The result ensured the top seed of the tournament maintained his high status in the the tournament, in a manner befitting with the performance he gave.
The Italian could not curtail with the attacking force of the 29-year-old Africa’s current number one, whose successive smash appeared too tough for Amato to contend with.
Aruna’s smash with the bat also ensured the Italian did not record any victory, with his only tough game against Aruna being the second game where the scoreline ended 14-12 in favour of the Nigerian.
The result means Aruna still remains a force to reckon with in World Table Tennis championship and also keeps his dream of getting a major share in the $46,000 prize-money tournament.
