Barcelona Thrash Sevilla To Keep Spanish Super Cup Hope Alive

Barcelona return home to Camp Nou with a 2-0 win against Sevilla in the Spanish Super Cup, with Luis Suarez and Munir scoring to give the Catalans the win.

Despite injuries which led to the team losing Jeremy Mathieu and Captain Andres Iniesta during the first half, the team still went ahead to win in the second half, giving the Catalans an edge as they travel to Sevilla on Wednesday for the second-leg encounter.

It was Luis Suarez who broke the deadlock with his typical kind of clinical finishing in the 54th minute before substitute Munir El Haddadi gave Luis Enrique’s side a pleasing cushion ahead of Wednesday’s return leg.

Though the Spanish Super Cup is not won yet, but Barcelona are now in comfortable lead ahead of the second leg clash.

It will be recalled that Barcelona lost the last edition of the Spanish Super Cup, after losing by 4-0 to Athletic Bilbao in the first-leg match.
