Liverpool takes the battle to Old Trafford today with a determination to unseat second position Manchester United in an early premier league clash between the two English most accomplished European football clubs.
The two sides have taken turns to occupy the second position in the past few weeks, but it is getting obvious now that today’s match will determine who will remain in second position pending when the other side loses in the next match.
Manchester United and Liverpool are also aware that the title looks out of reach for now, but they must try and finish in second-best position to earn a comfortable position to Europe next season.
It is Liverpool who needs an outright win in this game now, as they look a bit threatened by Tottenham who trail them with two points and would plan to move to the third position if they beat Bournemouth on Sunday.
A draw is good for United while a win is luxury, as it would move Mourinho’s men five point adrift Liverpool whose hope of remaining on the third position will be largely dependent on Tottenham’s result on Sunday.
Any of the two sides could get a win in this game, but what seems a little bit obvious is a draw going by the outcome of their meeting in their last two four meetings.
