The Blessing Okagbare-led team at the ongoing Rio Olympics which also includes Gloria Asumnu, Jennifer Madu and Agnes Osazuwa have qualified for the finals of the women 4x100m relay race which is expected to take place by 10:15pm Friday in Brazil (2:15am Saturday in Nigeria).
The development came from the qualification of Blessing Okagbare and her teammates, after the Nigerian quartet finished second in heat two behind Germany who clocked 42:18 secs and they hope to make something for Nigeria in the finals.
The team finished second in 42:55secs and at such are through to the finals.
Nigeria have had an uninteresting outing at the Rio Olympics, as day after day Nigerian athletes crashed out of their respective games, with some not even making it before the first round.
On Thursday, Nigeria’s Stephen Mozia whom many had looked up to as a sure prospect for medal at Rio crashed out in Shot Put event, as he failed to make it to the finals of the event.
It is obvious that poor preparations and the lack of provisions of equipment that characterized the build-up to the Olympics seems to be haunting the country in Rio.
