Cape Verde must have done a vital damage to the Bafana Bafana of South Africa after beating them 2-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa to send them to the bottom of the table.
The win takes Cape Verde to second position on the table and are tied on six points with Burkina Faso who remain on top due to goal difference.
South Africa needed a win to move to the top of the table, but they got a shock from their visitors in the second-half who took the lead with two goals coming from Rodriguez in the 52nd and 67th minutes respectively.
The lead turned the mood of the fans down, and would surely be a major source of embarrassment to the Minister of Sport and Recreation Mr.Mbalula , who had earlier boasted on Super Sport that qualifying for the World Cup was a do-or-die affair.
Though qualification is still open in the Group, but South Africa must need a favour from at least one team to qualify even if they win their remaining two matches.
The last time Bafana Bafana played in the World Cup was in 2010 when they came as host and were eliminated at the Group stage, they have since then be trying to qualify but all efforts has proved abortive.
