Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has given excuses for Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Manchester City at the Stamford Bridge stadium on Saturday.
The former Barcelona midfielder who spoke on the club’s website noted that Chelsea’s tight-schedule ahead of the match against City was a key factor towards the loss, and also pointed out that City had an advantage because the team had one extra day of rest before the clash.
Unfortunately, Fabregas’ argument does not in anyway seem reasonable as it is obvious that the match took place after the stipulated 48 hours officially recognized and approved by FIFA.
Moreover, Manchester City outclassed Chelsea in all departments, and were even more tactical and determined to win than their host.
However, the former Barcelona midfielder was also fair enough to confirm that Manchester City played better than his side.
Chelsea enjoyed a free move last season, when they did not take part in any European tournament but it seems its a more difficult situation now for Antonio Conte, who will now be combining playing the premier league and the uefa champions league.
