France Thrash Germany To Reach Final of Euro 2016

The blast of the final whistle marked the end of a dominating German side as Joachim Low’s men bow to the desire of the home crowd of France after a heated semifinal action that went in favour of France.

Antoine Griezmann’s brace which came in the first half through a penalty, and another strike in the 72 minutes, offered France an opportunity to get her pound of flesh from a German side that sent France packing from the World Cup in 2014.

France will come out in Saint-Denis on Sunday as favourites to reclaim this trophy at Portugal’s expense, potentially elevating the current crop alongside the iconic, tournament-winning teams of 1984 and 1998. Those sides were inspired by Michel Platini and Zinédine Zidane respectively. Already, Griezmann is threatening to gatecrash that pantheon of French greats. “We’re like little kids enjoying it all,” the striker said. “There’s a whole country behind us and we have to give 100% for them. Now we have to win the final.” He said.

Germany created opportunities to bury the ball in the net, but apparently luck was not on their side, as they practically struggled to get a single goal which eventually did not come to be.

Interestingly, Joachim Low’s men maintained their tactics, despite seeing that it was not paying off for their side as they relied heavily on the flanks to enable them get the needed header that would see them through.

France will have a date with Ronaldo on Sunday, though Portugal will be coming as underdog’s.
