In the bid to encourage wrestlers who represented Nigeria and did the nation proud in the just concluded Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson on Tuesday rewarded the team with a whooping sum of N13.9 million naira.
The wresting-loving governor made the cash available in a reception ceremony held at the state house in Yenagoa for the Nigeria Wrestling Federation team for their outstanding performance at the Commonwealth Games.
Each of the gold medalists got N1,500,000 (1.5 million Naira), while the silver medalist and bronze medalists got N 1,000,000 (one million naira) and N 700,000 (Seven hundred thousand naira) respectively.
