The Super Eagles of Nigeria thrashed the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 4-0 in their first-leg clash of the Russia 2018 Fifa World Cup which took place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.
Odion Ighalo, Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, and Kelechi Iheanacho all scored in a defeat that was humiliating, considering the fact that the Indomitable Lions are currently defending champions in the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations.
Worse still the Super Eagles did not even participate in the Cup of nations due to the fact that they failed to qualify, while the Cameroonian team who emerged victorious further took part in a competitive tournament when they represented Africa in the Confederations Cup in June this year.
The Win gives Gernot Rohr’s men comfortable lead in the group with maximum nine points from three matches, ahead of their second-leg in Yauonde which comes up on Monday.
Super Eagles stepped up there game, they were more tactical and clinical in their style of play, operating from both flanks with Victor Moses and Moses Simon keeping the flanks on the move.
The victory have ended the hope of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon qualifying for the Russia 2018, Fifa World Cup, as it would be practically impossible for them to get three straight victory at the expense of other three teams in the group.
