Kano Pillars defender Chinedu Udoji has passed away following an auto accident which took place on Sunday night, sportintelligencemag.com reports.
The 28-year-old was returning to the Kano Pillars club house after he visited his former Enyimba teammates at their hotel when the incident happened.
Kano Pillars posted on the club’s official twitter account: “Chinedu Udoji was involved in a car accident yesterday after visiting his former team mates at Enyimba. This tragic accident happened along Club Road in Kano.
“Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, fans, and football lovers all across the country,”
Enyimba held Kano Pillars to a 1-1 draw in the match day nine of the Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday at the Sani Abacha stadium.
The former Enyimba defender joined Kano Pillars last season but was heavily rumoured to return to his former club before the sad event occured.
