Messi’s 4-Match Ban From National Team May Worsen Argentina’s World Cup Dream

Barcelona and Argentina star Lionel Messi was served a 4-match ban by the world governing football body FIFA, six hours to their world cup qualifier match against Bolivia. The result of his absence in the match was Argentina’s fourth loss in the qualifier, which has put the team in a difficult situation.

The ban of the 29-year-old Argentina star came, after Messi insulted the mother of the Brazilian assistant referee Emerson de Carvalho during Argentina’s 1-0 win over Chile in a world cup qualifier last week.

Argentina have four games more to play in the qualifier, hence Messi will be able to play only three after serving the first match ban aginst Bolivia.

Messi will miss three crucial matches which will be against Uruguay, Paraguay and Venezuela, and this situation leaves Argentina’s hope of qualifying to the Russia 2018 world cup in real jeopardizing situation.

Argentina have really been faced with difficult situation recently, which bothered on funding of the AFA, of which the Barcelona forward has assisted by paying salaries of officials. The recent is another heavy blow.
