Mikel Departs For China: Sends Emotional Message To Fans

China-bound Mikel Obi took to twitter to send an emotional farewell message to fans and friends as he departs for the Far East where he is to face a new challenge.

The 29-year-old Super Eagles captain tweeted on social media“To play for Chelsea, to become part of the Chelsea family, to work with some of the best managers and players in the world, has truly been an honour.

“Every achievement I have been part of in my time at Chelsea holds a special memory: my first goal, against Macclesfield in 2007 (even though there were only five more after that!).

“To everyone at Chelsea – goodbye, and thank you,” he added. “You will always be part of who I am, and I wish you the best of luck,” he wrote on his Twitter account.

Mikel who spent over a decade at Stamford Bridge completed a move to Chinese Premier League club, Tianjin TEDA on Friday, where he signed a four-year deal in the far east which is worth £140,000-a-week.

Until his departure from Chelsea, Mikel never played any competitive game under new manager Antonio Conte.
