Mikel, Moses Make List of Super Eagles World Cup Qualifier Squad Against Cameroon

The Technical Adviser of Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has named team captain Mikel Obi, Chelsea’ Victor Moses, forward Odion Ighalo and Israel–based marksman Anthony Nwakaeme as squad members ahead of the battle against Cameroon.

According to report from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday, Rohr released his list of players for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying duels with Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions.

The 64-year-old German tactician has also kept fate with his regular squad, including goalkeepers Daniel Akpeyi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Dele Alampasu.

Defenders on the list are William Ekong, Elderson Echiejile and Abdullahi Shehu, midfielders Ogenyi Onazi, John Ogu, Wilfred Ndidi and Oghenekaro Etebo, forwards Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho made the list.
Nigeria will host the reigning African champions at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Sept. 1, before flying to Yaounde for a quickfire return session on Sept. 4.

The Super Eagles top Africa’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying Group B with six points, after recording two wins over Zambia and Algeria in their first two matches. The Lions lie second with only two points following 1-1 draws with Algeria and Zambia.

A win is very crucial for the team in the clash as it would give them the confidence needed ahead of their second-leg tie in Younde on September 4.
