The Super Eagles of Nigeria emerged victorious against the Desert Foxes of Algeria after thrashing their visitors 3-1 in Uyo to maintain the top spot position with the maximum six points available.
Moses was the hero of the match, scoring twice to give the Eagles the win, and also extending Super Eagles head-to-head record with Algeria as they now have five consecutive wins against the Desert Foxes in all their meetings.
Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi scored Nigeria’s second goal unmarked, and in a world of his own, as the Algerian defence failed to keep accurate track of the Chelsea midfielder while building their offside track, giving him the opportunity to score from what looked like a penalty kick in the 18-yard-box, to give the Eagles a comfortable 2-0 lead before half time.
The Desert Foxes came out more determined in the second half, as they pressurized the Super Eagles defence and their effort paid off when they got their only goal before Moses scored Nigeria’s third goal to seal victory for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Nigeria is expected to face Cameroon in their next match, as they would also need an outright win to keep their qualification in a grand-style.
