The President-General World-wide of the Nigeria Football and other Sports Supporters club Dr Rafiu Ladipo has called on the media and all Nigerians to join in the clarion call to ensure the promotion of Boxing in Nigeria.

Ladipo who made the call today in Lagos during a Press Conference organized by Monarch Events and Promotions at the secretariat of the Supporters Club, thanked the CEO of the organization Prince Williams for his magnanimity towards ensuring that the hopes of Nigerian boxers are rekindled.

He also charged all present to replicate the same gesture which Nigerians have shown to football in the past years to Boxing, as that is one way we can help promote Boxing in Nigeria.

Ladipo who has a knack for quality Sport development also added that with the package put in place by Prince Williams and his team, modern boxing equipment and facilities are set to role into the country soon which will also propel Nigerian boxers to learn the new ways and tricks in boxing ahead of international competitions.

Unlike football that has one world cup in four years, Boxing has several world cups in one year and has a high rate of attracting and improving tourism in any nation where the competition take place.

It will be recalled that Nigeria won her first ever Olympic medal through Boxing at the Tokyo 1964 Olympics when Nojim Maiyegun did the nation proud, the last time Nigeria ever won a medal at the Olympics in Boxing was at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics.
