The Nigeria Roller Sport Federation is set to face a new dawn to enable the Sport hold grip of youths in Nigeria, with the formal inauguration of the various state chapters in a reception which is expected to take place on Saturday 17th February 2018 at the National Stadium Complex in Surulere Lagos by 10am.
The inauguration ceremony of the various state chapters will also serve as a formal reception for athletes of Team Nigeria who held the nations flag high during the first ever Africa Skating Championship which took place in Lome, Togo in December 2017.
According to an official statement made available to Sport Intelligence by the Federation’s secretariat, it read in part “The President has directed that the precise date for the Team Nigeria reception and inauguration of various state Chapters is Saturday 17th February 2018, by 10am at the National Stadium Complex, Surulere Lagos.
It will also be recalled that during the Federation’s World Press Conference which took place on December 4th, 2017 at the National Stadium, the National President of the Federation Comrade Joseph Evah had stated categorically that: “Skating has come to stay since it has been recognized by the National Olympic Committee”.
Comrade Joseph Evah had also encouraged athletes who were going to represent Nigeria in the African Skating championship to aim at the ultimate goal which is the Olympic.
Sport Intelligence can also confirm, that the reception will also serve as an opportunity for the Rollers Federation to appreciate athletes who did Nigeria proud during the championship which took place in the Togolese capital Lome in December.
Athletes such as Samuel Igaga, Chidindu Vitalis, Olawale Ibrahim, Abusodiq Abdulrasheed and Tunde Ishola all distinguished themselves by getting their names on the medals table during the championship and will be expected to be present during the ceremony.
