The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has called on Nigerians to pray for Super Eagles goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, who was recently diagnosed of acute leukaemia.
The call was made through the NFF’s official Twitter account The NFF 🇳🇬 @thenff the call read “Our thoughts are with
@NGSuperEagles GK, @Carl_Ikeme who has been diagnosed with leukaemia. We will pray and rally round him at this time”.
Report from the BBC confirms that the 31-year-0ld Wolves and Super Eagles goal tender returned “abnormal blood tests” during pre-season testing and further checks confirmed the diagnosis.
Carl Ikeme has been with the Championship side Wolves for his entire career, making more than 200 appearances for Wanderers.
Carl Ikeme made his first appearance for the Super Eagles in 2015, and has so far made a total of 10 appearances for the national team.
