Nigerian Ambassador Not Present To Encourage Athletes In First Ever African Skating Championship Held In Togo

Reports coming from the just concluded first ever African Skating championship held in Lome, the capital city of Togo are confirming, that the Nigerian Ambassador to Togo was conspicuously missing during the 5-day Sporting event which took place from December 6th to 11th, 2017.

Sport Intelligence gathered from some of the athletes who spoke on grounds of anonymity, that they felt dejected when they saw the Egyptian Ambassador to Togo coming around to encourage and give moral support to their athletes during the championship for two days.

Our source further confirmed that the Egyptian Ambassador further hosted the Egyptian team in a dinner, giving them a sense of belonging and encouragement.

More so, there was poor mobilization of Nigerians in diaspora during the event, as they did not even turn out to encourage Nigerian contingent during the event proper.

However, the Nigerian contingent who won Six medals in all during the championship, paid a visit to the office of the Nigerian Ambassador to Togo after the event, where they were received by Mrs Ishola who had been instructed by the High Commissioner to receive the team.

Mrs Ishola, who is also the Minister of business and economic matters received the contingent, she told them that the High Commissioner was out on official assignment, but assured them before their departure to Nigeria that the Nigerian High Commissioner would surely contact them when they arrive Nigeria.
