Nigerian Girls Make History As Winter Olympics Ceremony Kicks Off

The 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang have officially begun with the traditional opening ceremony taking place in grand style as Africa makes her debut.

Nigerian women’s Bobsleigh team made up of Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omeogahave had their names written in African Sport history as they become the first African bobsleigh team to ever participate in the Winter Olympics at that level.

Also in the games is Nigerian Olympian, Simidele Adeagbo who also made history to become the first African female to compete in Skeleton at the Games.

According to a report from Punch, President Buhari had earlier sent words of support and encouragement to the athletes through the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu,
