Paraguay thrashed the South American champions 3-0 before their home crowd, in a match that made the Chileans drop points despite the fact that they needed a win to keep their hopes of qualifying to the World Cup alive.
Aturo Vidal’s own-goal in the 24th minutes was a boost for the visitors, who held on to their 1-0 lead before half-time and came back in the second half more determined to win.
Caseres scored the second goal in the 55th minutes, and this got the Chileans more frustrated as yellow cards were picked by Aranguiz, Jara, Beausejour in the 74th, 77th and 83rd minutes respectively, before Oritz scored the final goal in two minutes of injury time to seal victory.
Aturo Vidal got a yellow in the fifth minute of injury time, before the match came to an end.
The match aside being a qualifier was supposed to be a kind of consolation for Alexis Sanchez who was unable to secure his move to Manchester City, but it seems things went worse for the Chilean.
