Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has praised his players performance after they outclassed Arsenal at Etihad stadium in a 3-1 win to open up an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League.
The former Barcelona manager who spoke with BBC said: “We cannot deny the last two months have been amazing,” Guardiola said. “We knew how important this game was and we prepared well. The players gave an amazing performance.”
So far, Manchester City have won nine consecutive league matches, a club record for a single season, have progressed to the knockout stage of the Champions League and are through to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.
Some Arsenal players however felt that the referee should not have awarded the penalty which Kun Aguero converted into City’s second goal, while the third goal which replay suggested that Gabriel Jesus and David Silva were in offside position for the third goal.
But the fact remains that City deserve to win, they outclassed Arsenal in all the department even though they were wasteful in front of the goal in the first half. Arsenal did not deserve to get any point from the match as their host played with determination.
David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne are particularly outstanding players, as the duo have really shown the quality of stuff they are made of and what they can do to make City continue in their winning ways.
