Portugal Sends Croatia Out of Euro 2016

Portugal are through to the quarterfinal of the Euro 2016, after beating Croatia 1-0 in extra time to send them packing from the tournament.

Portugal who had a record of draw in all their group matches, maintained their style of play, taking the game into extra time before Ricado Quaresma broke the jinx in the 117′ minutes, scoring the only goal of the match from a rebound poked out by the goalkeeper but played by Cristiano Ronaldo.

The win also gives Portugal her first ever victory in the Euro 2016, while Quaresma is the third Portugal player in the history of Euros to score two goals as a substitute, along with Rui Costa and Helder Postiga.

Croatia were weak in the attack, as they played a total of 17 shots but none were on target, a record which a team ever held in the Euro since 1980.

Though weak in attack, they were also good in defense as they kept Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo for 90 minutes on the pitch without him playing a single shot.
