Rafael Benitez Drags Newcastle Out Of Relegation Zone With Two More Matches To Go

There was a sigh of relief today at St. James Park stadium, when Andros Townsend 58th minutes goal secured the winning for Benitez side, thanks to Yohan Cabaye of Crystal Palace, who lost the only penalty that would have ended the match to a 1-1, with great save from third choice goal keeper Darlow who did the magic.

Norwich City lost at Emirate to Arsenal and Sunderland played a 1-1 draw at Stoke, that moved Newcastle to 17th  position on the premier league table a point above the Black Cats and two clear of the Canaries.

Two heroes emerged in the match for Benitez side, Andros Townsend did the scoring, while Karl Darlow came to the rescue when he saved Cabaye’s poor penalty, denying them of a potential draw.

Newcastle had been written off by pundits and bookmakers and even some of their fans had stopped believing in them. But it was a different story at St James’ Park, as Newcastle provided another twist in this fascinating Premier League season.

Benitez will just need to keep his side focused, as they need to win their remaining two matches to be sure they are permanently out of the relegation zone.

If successful at end of season, the Spaniard will remain at Newcastle as manager, keeping Newcastle out of relegation is the the only condition for that.
