President-General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club and other Sport (NSSCS) Dr. Rafiu Ladipo has finally revealed what Nigerian former president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo told him in 2013.
Dr. Ladipo who spoke at the National Stadium Complex in Surulere Lagos, during a reception held for the Team Nigeria who represented Nigeria at the 1st ever African Skating championship which took place in Lome, Ghana said Obasanjo told him to embrace other Sport.
Ladipo said “When I was with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo then, he said since you have used your resources and goodwill to give football a brand in Nigeria, I want you to also consider other Sports and promote them”.
Dr. Ladipo also reminded all that though football seems prominent, but it was Boxing which he actually started with as Boxing was the first sport to bring glory to Nigeria before football took over and eventually won the hearts of millions of Nigerians.
He further noted that his presence in today’s event is a clear indication that he heeded to the advice of the former president and would do all possible to support the growth and development of Skating in Nigeria.
Ladipo further informed the Rollers Sport Federation of Nigeria that he would give all the necessary support to ensure that all athletes who required International Passport ahead of the next championship billed for Egypt gets speedy attention at the Immigration, and told the federation to let him know when they are ready.
