Ronaldo Failed To Match Platini’s Record But Happy

Cristiano Ronaldo was unable to score a goal in the round of 16 match against Croatia, but was happy that his side has progressed to the quarter-finals of the Euro Championship with his hope still being alive.

The Real Madrid forward is the second all-time highest goal scorer of the Euro 2016, trailing former France forward Mitchel Platini who scored a total of nine goals during his hey days in the tournament. A goal tonight for Ronaldo would have leveled him up with the former France star, but it seems he will have to wait till the quarter-finals before he realizes that dream.

Interestingly, this is also the first time in the Euro tournament, that Cristiano Ronaldo failed to play a shot within the duration of the 90 minutes, even though he scored a brace in his last group match against Hungary.

Ronaldo who is also the all-time highest goal scorer in the UEFA Champions league with 90 goals, will be hoping to surpass the former French record in national side football.
