Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to inspire a Portugal to a 5-1 win over the Faroe Islands in a 2018 World Cup Qualifier on Thursday evening.
The European champions broke the deadlock after just three minutes courtesy of a strike from Ronaldo, who fired into the top corner with an acrobatic style, to put the host in an early lead.
Portugal dominated as the half went although the duo of Ronaldo and Andre Silva failed to convert their chances to goal to extend their lead.
However, the European champions got a penalty in the 28th minute when Joao Mario was brought down in the 18-yard-box. Ronaldo stepped up and converted it to a goal before the visitors scored their only goal in the 38th minutes before half time.
The scoreline remained 2-1 before half-time, but Ronaldo was good to complete his hat-trick by the 64th minutes, before Nelson Oliveira sealed up victory for the host in the 84th minutes with a finish from close range.
