Former Green Eagles captain Segun Odegbami who is set to join in the 2019 Ogun state gubernatorial race is planning to contest under the Labour Party.
Odegbami who was part of the team that won the Africa Cup of nations in 1980 made a press release following the end of the Russia 2018 World Cup, where he commented under “Going Into Politics” of his intentions to join the Labour Party..
An extract from the release read “On a different note, next Wednesday, July 18 2018, I am taking a plunge into the uncharted rivers of Nigerian politics.”
“On that day, I shall become a member of the Labour Party, and be officially welcomed on that political platform as a gubernatorial candidate for Ogun State in the forthcoming 2019 General Elections”.
The 65-year-old who made 47 appearances for the national team and scoring 22 goals has a knack for quality administration and believes strongly he has got what it takes to deliver Ogun State in 2019.
