Senegal have picked the sole ticket of their Group for the Russia 2018 World Cup after beating South Africa 2-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
Liverpool winger Sadio Mane, who recently returned from injury, was key to the Teranga Lions’ victory, after he made a superb pass for West Ham Striker Diafra Sakho who slotted the ball past Bafana Bafana goalkeeper giving Senegal a lead in just 12 minutes.
The victory means Senegal would be making their second World Cup appearance after making an impressive debut appearance in the 2002 World Cup where they reached the quarter-final stage of the tournament.
Senegal qualify with 11 points and are five points adrift Burkina Faso with one last Group matches left for the four teams, while South Africa remain at the bottom of the table with four points.
The qualification also means that Senegal have joined Nigeria and Egypt to pick a berth for the tournament.
