Manchester City thrashed their guest 4-0 to go 13 points on top of the premier league table, after Manchester United who needed a win failed to beat Leicester City at their home.
The win makes City the first premier league club to go 17 consecutive wins and the victory is one more victory than Bournemouth have picked up in total in the Premier League since the start of last season.
The victory also makes Manchester City the first English top-flight team to score 100 goals in a calendar year since Liverpool in 1982 (106).
Pep Guardiola’s men have also succeeded in ending the 2017 year without losing a single match at their home. They still have two more league games remaining in 2017, as they face Newcastle United away on Wednesday and then travel to Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve.
The victory also means Pep Guardiola has surpassed his 16 consecutive win in a row which he achieved while in Barcelona, but will need two more wins to measure up with his 19 league wins which he achieved while in charge of Bayern Munich between October 2013 and March 2014.
