VAR Helps Australia Grab Crucial One Point From Denmark

The VAR system played key role as Australia captain Mile Jedinak converted a 38th minutes penalty to cancel Christian Eriksen seventh minute goal to deny Denmark a victory that would have given them six points ahead of their final group match.

The penalty may seem to be controversial but the experienced Jedinak dispatched the spot-kick confidently ensuring the scoreline is leveled up before half time to avoid his side getting under pressure.

The 1-1 scoreline which the game ended means Denmark remain on top temporarily with four points but will await the result of the game between France and Peru to know if they will still maintain the top post.

Australia who now have one point will hope that Peru gets at least a draw in the encounter to give them hope ahead of their final group game when they meet with the South Americans.
