Former Kwara Football Technical Director and Sunshine Stars of Akure manager Paul Ashworth has recently commended the decision of Arsenal to renew the contract of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
The 47-year-old who is currently the technical director of FK Ventspils recently fielded questions from Sport Intelligence, where he simply described the recent happening in Arsenal as “Excellent club and great coach – I agree he should stay”Ashworth said.
When asked to comment about the negative reactions of fans prior to the renewal of Wenger’s contract, Ashworth simply replied
“I don’t see of what relevance a few fans have, the important decision is from the directors and chairman, If you curtail to some fans – you loose your identity”
Ashworth stated that it was okay that Wenger did not heed to fans call to resign, but enjoined fans to support their club even if they had one year out of the top 4 ( from 21!!!) also they won the FA cup.
Ashworth who sojourned in Nigeria from 2010 to 2015 also boasted that he currently have three Nigerian players who are playing with him in Ventspils, and they are doing very well he added.
