Wild Celebration Continues In Cairo After Pharaohs Secured World Cup Berth

Celebration in Cairo capital city of Egypt has gone wild, after Mohammed Salah’s late penalty secured the Pharaohs of Egypt a berth in Russia 2018.

Fireworks was freely used all through the night and football fans could not hold back their joy after they had waited for 27 years to get their third qualification to the FIFA World Cup.

Between 1990 and 2017 Egypt have conquered African football four times, winning the AFCON title in 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2010 but failing to secure the qualification during these periods.

Interestingly, it looked as if the Pharaohs of Egypt sacrificed the AFCON title in Gabon 2017 when they lost to Cameroon in the finals in February only to get a consolation 7 months after.

Egypt first appeared in the world cup in 1934, but it took them another 56 years before they returned in the 1990 world cup hosted by Italy.

It has also taken Egypt half the number of years it took her to reach her second world cup, to qualify for her third World Cup.
