Zambia Wants To Break 32 Years Old Jinx And Set New Record Against Nigeria

The Chipolopolo of Zambia will be looking forward to break a 32-year-old jinx against the Super Eagles of Nigeria when both sides clash in the second-leg match of the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Zambia last won Nigeria in a competitive competition on August 18, 1985 and since then both teams have played in a competitive tournament 7 times with Nigeria winning four while the remaining three ended in a draw.

The Chipolopolo of Zambia will also be hoping to get their first win against Nigeria on home soil, as they have never achieved such feat against the West African side.

However, the last time Zambia defeated Nigeria to edge her out in a competitive competition was in the last Group stage match of Libya 1982 Africa Cup of nations, where Nigeria who played as defending champions needed a draw to progress to the semifinal but eventually lost 3-0 to the Chipolopolo of Zambia who later progressed ahead of Nigeria.

Nigeria top of Group of death with ten points and are trailed by Zambia who have seven points. A win for Zambia will keep their first ever World Cup dreams alive, but losing will mean end of the road for them.
